From where to park and what to pack, we’ve rounded up answers to the most common questions travelers ask. Consider this your go-to guide for making the most of your stay on Florida’s Gulf Coast. 

Can I bring a bag on the beach?

Yes, you can bring a bag on the beach, as there are no set rules regarding bags on Panama City Beach.

What items are permitted on the beach?

You may bring: Tents, Chairs, Umbrellas and coolers

Can I camp overnight on the beach?

Camping on the beach is not permitted

Can I surf fish at the beach?

Anyone can enjoy surf fishing any time on the beach.

Do I need a fishing license to surf fish at the beach?

A fishing license is required for anyone over the age of 16 except at Russel Fields City Pier.

Are pets allowed on the beach?

Pets are only allowed West of the Panama City Beach Pier (across from Pier Park). This is designated as a pet-friendly area.

Is alcohol allowed on the beach?

You must be 21 years of age to possess or drink alcohol on the beach.

What do the different color beach flags mean?

At Panama City Beach, knowing beach flag meanings is vital for safety. A green flag means safe swimming, a yellow flag warns of moderate surf, and a red flag signals dangerous waters. A purple flag indicates hazardous marine life like jellyfish. Check these flags daily for a safe beach experience!

Can you cook out, grill or have a fire on the beach?

No fires are allowed on the beach; however, you can have a bonfire using a beach bonfire vendor. You can hire a company that will pull the proper permits and set the bonfire up for you.

Are weddings allowed on the beach?

Yes, weddings are allowed on all public beaches and without needing a permit. Weddings are subject to the Leave No Trace which requires unattended personal items to be removed by 7pm. So your wedding party will be not only be responsible for setting up and taking down any wedding decorations and cleaning the area of the beach so there is no trace left behind.

Where can I park for a day the beach?

Richard Seltzer Park offers parking and beach access.

Pier Park/Russell-Fields City Pier offers paid parking and beach access.

M.B. Miller County Pier has beach access and paid parking. St. Andrews State Park offers both paid parking and beach access.

There are also many other public access points along the beach that offer free parking, but spaces may be limited.
